Growing up, Bernie Clarke never thought about a career in real estate. The son of a Denver physician, he was one of eleven children. He played in a rock and roll band in High School. "The Hitchikers" had a strong Denver following. In college at the University of Colorado, Bernie studied English. Writing came readily to him. The sciences would call another brother. Following school, Bernie became a performing artist. He wrote a musical play - book, music & lyrics - that was produced by The Denver Center for the Performing Arts. This show, "Bits of Junk," won a P.E.N. award from New York City. Subsequently, Bernie toured ten states in the Northwest under a fellowship funded by the Literature Program of the National Endowment of the Arts.

Living off grants and playing a guitar in clubs is fine for a young single man. However, in 1975, Bernie said goodbye to bachelorhood. He and his wife hoped to start a family. In 1979, they had their first child, a daughter. She would later be joined by two brothers. This was the year that Bernie took preparatory courses in real estate school and passed the salesman's test for the state of Colorado. Within two years, he became the top salesman in the real estate firm he initially joined. There were only twenty people in this small office. In 1985, Bernie was honored by the Denver Board of Realtors as one of the top ten residential sales people in the Mile High City. The Board had over two thousand members. In 1991 he merged his real estate company, The McLaughlin Group, with RE/MAX Central. In 1992, he became a Certified Residential Specialist.

The industry has experienced many, many changes over the past 31 years. Many of these are for the better. Today and tomorrow are days unlike any other. If you would like to work with an experienced Broker who puts the client first, it would be my honor to hear from you.

P.S. By the way, 35 years have passed and I am still married to the same lady. I still play-out with my guitar and write my songs. I have recorded 9 CDs and a radio station in Denver is playing one of my songs on the air. Who says you can't have your cake and eat it too? ROCK ON!
